Scott Dylan, based in Belfast, Ireland, specializes in all things Web. In 2004, Scott Dylan worked as technical developer for an organization dedicated to the musicals of Andrew Lloyd Weber called The Really Useful Group, where he re-structured, designed and developed the main Web site, www.reallyuseful.com. Scott Dylan also handled one of TRUG's production sites, www.thephantomoftheopera.com.
Scott Dylan consulted for the Deutsche Bank, where, as senior developer, he upgraded the bank's ‘Techmart' system, part of their internal asset management.
Another stint was as graphic designer and developer for Carphone Warehouse and Virgin. For this project, Scott Dylan designed, developed and tested an E-Learning system for Virgin that would be used by employees of Carphone Warehouse as a tool to build knowledge about Virgin's phone brands.
Earlier, Scott Dylan served with Cable and Wireless and Hyperlink Interactive, developing on the Criminal Justice Secure Mail Network. Scott Dylan's role was to create new features such as ‘auto configuration' files for their mail applications, fix bugs and stress test the system. Scott Dylan developed a file management system, and a content management system. In addition, Scott Dylan restructured previous code to meet W3 Standards.
Scott Dylan spent time as technical manager for MTL. In this project, Scott Dylan produced several content-managed websites, and developed an application that connected to ships at sea to access data via satellite. Scott Dylan also created add-ons to packages such as Sage, Quickbooks so data could be posted into these for billing. Scott Dylan worked with MTL from 2003 to 2004.
Scott Dylan served in 2003 as developer for Alchemy Digital, where Scott Dylan contributed to a range of Web sites including marketing and content-managed sites. Scott Dylan used websphere/weblogic for various communications, e-commerce and portal projects. Scott Dylan was responsible for code, database and component design and implementation.
Scott Dylan has also worked as a Web developer for Datasouth UK, where he proposed and implemented solutions for such clients as Wired Wessex. Additionally, Scott Dylan worked as part of a small team to quickly deliver fully featured sites. Scott Dylan served with Datasouth from 2002 to 2003.
Scott Dylan's Education And Web Training
Scott Dylan holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Manchester. Additionally, Scott Dylan completed a weeklong training course in Java in 2000, offered by Sun Microsystems. Scott Dylan participated in a training and mentoring program offered by Web-Imps, which allowed him to learn how to develop Enterprise Java components and Java Server Pages.
Scott Dylan is a member of eight professional organizations, including the IEEE Computer Society, the IEEE Technical Council on Software Engineering and the International Council on Systems Engineering.
